Chobe is famous for its huge elephant herds. Buffalo gather here in large numbers too. The Chobe River runs along the park’s northern edge. The Linyanti and Savute marshes sit to the south west. Together with the Okavango Delta and Moremi Game Reserve, these areas form a wide corridor. Animals move freely through this corridor throughout the year.
Bird lovers will find plenty to love here. Chobe hosts more than 560 bird species. Keep an eye out for the African Hawk-Eagle and the Gabar Goshawk. Lucky visitors might spot a rare Slaty Egret or Cuckoo Hawk. Along the riverfront, you can often see buffalo, hippo and crocodile too.
